Northern European preschool buyers are a particular kind of customer. They read test reports before they read catalogues, they plan purchases by room and by term, and they reorder only what has survived a winter of daily use. Nina Olesen, a Danish buyer, has worked with us since July 2023: 13 orders across roughly nine quarters, running to June 2026, covering Gym Frame, Pikler and Learning Tower with nursery items on top.
The client
Nina Olesen supplies preschool projects in Denmark. The account record shows 13 orders across about nine quarters (2023.07 to 2026.06), flagged both as a repeat customer and as carrying bulk-purchase signals. The product combination is the movement set: Gym Frame, Pikler and Learning Tower, plus nursery items. Nine quarters of ordering, with batch-size signals in the record, reads like a buyer serving several projects in sequence rather than one room at a time.
What Nordic projects ask for
Two things set Nordic preschool procurement apart from most markets. The first is documentation: EN71 evidence and CE conformity are baseline expectations, and buyers ask which laboratory issued the report before they ask about colour. The second is material honesty. Birch is a Nordic material, and buyers can tell birch plywood from a veneered particle board by the edge of a cut panel. In an earlier inspection, a buyer who runs his own factory checked our goods panel by panel and confirmed the construction is real birch plywood and solid wood, not veneer over cheaper core. That kind of inspection is normal here, and it is the reason our material line is written the way it is: E0-grade birch plywood and non-toxic paint, stated the same way on every quote.
The product set for preschool movement rooms
The three lines Nina Olesen buys fit together into what Nordic settings call a movement corner. Pikler pieces are birch wood multilayer panel construction: the Rainbow and White Pikler Triangle is 91 × 70 × 78H cm, its ramp is 100 × 35 × 5.4 cm, and the tested age group is 3–5 years. The SGS report SHHL2102005542TY covers the Pikler Triangle Series against EN71-1, EN71-2 and EN71-3, and a second report, SHHL2102005958TY, covers EN 71-8:2018 for home activity toys — static strength, stability with fall heights up to 600 mm, climbing passage and foot entrapment among the checks. For a room where children climb daily, EN71-8 is the report that matters.
Gym Frame units carry CE conformity under certificate GC21093001 (report HG210827221, Ningbo GIG Testing, September 2021) against the three EN71 parts. Learning Tower is covered by two models: the white folding tower certified as Kitchen Helper (GC21092203 / HG210914223) and the blackboard learning tower (TST202106Q3219-1RR-XG-01, certificate 06Q3219EN71, tested to the EU toy directive 2009/48/EC for ages one and up). Nursery items round out the orders. For Nordic buyers who want a different timber tone, we have also delivered learning towers in rubberwood, so the wood choice is a project decision rather than a fixed catalogue limit.
Testing detail is worth quoting when a procurement reviewer asks. The EN 71-8 report records passes on static strength, maximum height, sharp edges and projections, climbing passage and foot entrapment, and activity-toy stability at fall heights up to 600 mm. EN71-3, the migration-of-elements test, is the clause that covers mouthing contact, and it sits inside the EN71-1/2/3 report set rather than beside it.
How the ordering pattern works
Thirteen orders over nine quarters is roughly one to two orders a quarter, and the bulk-purchase signals in the record mean some of those orders were sized for a project batch rather than a top-up. That rhythm suits term-based buying: a batch before the autumn term, a smaller batch as rooms fill in, and a spring order for the next intake. Because the same models repeat across orders, rooms built a year apart end up with matching pieces — the practical advantage of keeping item codes fixed across projects.
What you can copy from this project
- Ask for the laboratory name behind each report. SGS, BCTC and GIG appear on ours, and a Nordic buyer will ask anyway.
- Plan movement rooms as a set: a climbing triangle, a ramp, a gym frame and a tower that stores folded. Buying the set in one order keeps the finish consistent.
- Order by term, not by panic. The pattern in this account — batches across quarters, repeat models — is what a planned intake looks like from the factory side.
- If the timber tone matters to your market, ask early. Birch and rubberwood versions both exist, and changing the wood mid-project changes the look of every room you already finished.
